Sustainability
Sustainable practices make hospitality organizations stand out. As the lodging industry continues to become more green-focused, our goal is to have sustainability initiatives at the forefront of the conversation when making decisions at your hotels.
Together, we can make an impact.
As part of our mission to shine a spotlight on hotel owners and operators dedicated to reducing their environmental footprint, we have launched a sustainability calculator and certification program.
Our sustainability calculator allows any hotel company to enter information specific to their operating processes and apply for the MDO Sustainability Certification, which can be included in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) materials, including requests for event proposals.

YEAR ONE COST SAVINGS | $1500 |
TREES | TREES |
EMISSIONS | metric tons of CO2 |
LANDFILL | pounds of solid landfill waste |
ENERGY | kWh |
WASTER WATER | gallons |
OIL | gallons |
OXYGEN FOR | human beings |
That's | reams each year |
Costing us | $ annually |
That's | tons of wasted paper |
Which means | trees are cut down |
And | tons of CO2 are emitted for production |
Fllling the earth with | pounds of solid waste per year |
And consuming at least | kWh of energy |
And at least | gallons of waste water |
Eliminating oxygen that would otherwise support | human beings |
That's | toner cartridges each year |
Costing us | $ in toner |
Creating | pounds of CO2 from emissions production |
That's | tons of CO2 |
And | pounds of solid waste in our landfills |
Also comsuming | gallons of oil during production |
Total annual storage cost | $ |

Certificates are good for one year and will automatically renew based on our continued communication.
Just the Facts!
VARIABLE | FACTS |
---|---|
TREES | On average a tree can only produce 17 reams of paper but takes about 100 years to grow. Trees release Oxygen and absorb greenhouse gases. You are helping to purify the air through saving trees |
AIR POLLUTION | Many air pollutants are produced by paper and print industry. The paper and pulp industry is the 4th largest emitter of greenhouse gases among U.S. manufacturing industries. The paper industry is responsible for 9% of the total emissions of carbon dioxide from manufacturing industries. The production of 17 reams of paper release 110 pounds of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere |
WATER | It is a fact that pulp and paper is the third largest industrial polluter to air, water, and land in North America and is the fifth largest consumer of energy. Paper manufacturing plant would use about 3 gallons of non-recycled water to produce one sheet of copy paper. |
LANDFILL | Paper makes up 26% of landfills and degradation produces methane, a greenhouse gas with 23 times the heat trapping capacity of carbon dioxide. Landfills are the source of 34% of methane released and the single largest source in the U.S. You are saving cubic yards of landfill space by not printing. |
GASOLINE | Paper manufacturing and transport involves burning of gasoline to power. The print paper is produced in one part of the country needs to be shipped to you using train, trucks that consume gasoline. |
ENERGY | It is a fact that pulp and paper is the fifth largest consumer of energy in North America. The energy required to produce 10 sheets of paper can be used to run a refrigerator for 143 days! |

Each year, as part of our continued commitment to sustainability, we plant 1 tree for each hotel live on myDocs. Here's what we have accomplished so far...
42,120 Trees Saved
Planting a tree is one of the easiest and most powerful things you can do to have a positive impact on the environment. Trees clean the air, prevent rainwater runoff, help you save energy and even combat global warming. Plus, planting trees is easy.

Saved Oxygen for 84,240 Humans
By storing carbon above and below the ground, forest trees contribute to the production of oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis.
$9,000,000 Cost Saved
Trees make oxygen. People use oxygen. Sounds like the perfect perfect pairing.

19,540,170 kWh Energy Conserved
Forests and photosynthesis also play a vital role in removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping mitigate the harmful impact excess carbon dioxide emissions has on the environment.
11151.72 MT Emission reduced
The process of printing, storing and processing paper, over time emits harmful emissions into the environment. MDO helps you stop these processes.

4,123,890 LBS Waste Eliminated
Forests and photosynthesis also play a vital role in removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping mitigate the harmful impact excess carbon dioxide emissions has on the environment.
3,000 GAL Oil Saved
Planting a tree is one of the easiest and most powerful things you can do to have a positive impact on the environment. Trees clean the air, prevent rainwater runoff, help you save energy and even combat global warming. Plus, planting trees is easy.

33,476,625 GAL Waste Water Preserved
By storing carbon above and below the ground, forest trees contribute to the production of oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis.
